Two panel technologies rule 2026: OLED (perfect blacks, best in dim rooms) and Mini-LED (brighter, cheaper, better for daylight viewing). Pick by room first, then by budget.

Worth paying for: HDMI 2.1 if you game, 120Hz for sports, and a proper dimming-zone count on LED sets. Not worth it: 8K resolution, “AI picture” branding, and built-in cameras.
