How We Compare

This page explains which manufacturer-published specs we compare, how we handle gaps, and what we have and haven't done.

Where our data comes from

We collect specifications from each manufacturer's product pages, manuals, and spec sheets, then restate them in the same format for every product in a category. We write our own descriptions rather than copying manufacturer copy. Brand claims are attributed to the brand.

What we compare

Infrared saunas

Field What we record
Type Cabin, lie-down, portable, or another format
Capacity Number of people the manufacturer lists
Heater Heater material and layout, such as carbon or ceramic panels
Infrared range Far, near, or full spectrum, as stated by the manufacturer
EMF claim The manufacturer's EMF statement, with any measurement and distance it gives
Power / outlet Voltage, amperage, and whether a standard outlet or a dedicated circuit is required
Dimensions Exterior size and, where published, weight
Warranty Length and coverage as stated by the manufacturer

For infrared lamps, we use the same fields wherever they apply. Capacity usually doesn't.

Red light therapy devices (panels, pads, mats, bags, and masks)

Field What we record
Wavelengths Each wavelength in nanometers, as listed
LED count Total LEDs, plus per-wavelength counts where published
Irradiance The published irradiance figure and the distance it was measured at
Coverage Panel or pad size and the coverage area the manufacturer states
Flicker / EMF The manufacturer's flicker and EMF statements, with any measurement details
FDA status Only what the manufacturer states, attributed to them
Warranty Length and coverage as stated by the manufacturer

A note on irradiance: brands measure it with different equipment and at different distances, so two published numbers are not always directly comparable. That's why we show the distance next to every figure.

How we flag missing or unclear specs

  • Not published: we couldn't find the spec in the manufacturer's materials.
  • Unclear: the spec is published without key context, such as irradiance with no distance, or the brand's own materials disagree.
  • Brand states: a claim we can't verify ourselves, such as EMF levels or FDA status, shown with attribution.

We ask brands to fill gaps, and a spec stays flagged until the brand publishes or confirms it in writing.

What we haven't done yet

We have not lab-tested or physically tested the products on Comparadar. Our comparisons are based on published specifications, not our own measurements, and we won't say "we tested" until it's true. If we begin hands-on testing, those results will be clearly labeled as our own tests, with a description of what we measured and how.

How rankings and picks work

When we highlight a product, we weigh its published specs against the use case, price, warranty, and how complete its published information is. Brands cannot pay for placement. Every product we compare is also a product we sell; see How We Make Money.

How we keep comparisons current

We re-check specifications when we add a product, when a brand tells us about a change, and during periodic reviews. If a manufacturer's current documentation disagrees with our comparison, please let us know.

Corrections

Spotted an error? Email support@comparadar.com with the product name, the spec in question, and a link to the source. We review every request, fix what we got wrong, and note significant corrections on the page. Brands can request corrections the same way; we make changes only when they're supported by documentation.
